Chapter 9 | How to write the headline / strapline

This sits near the top of the CV and immediately tells the reader what kind of professional you are, it should position you clearly.

Good headlines do one or more of the following:

State your level

State your professional lane

Highlight your key value areas

Examples:

Operations Leader | Multi-Site Delivery | Performance Improvement

Senior HR Professional | Employee Relations | Workforce Change

Programme Manager | Transformation | Stakeholder-Led Delivery

Finance Business Partner | Commercial Analysis | Strategic Reporting

What makes a good headline is one that is clear, specific, recruiter-friendly, and aligned to your target roles.

What to avoid

Experienced professional

Driven and dynamic individual

Results-oriented leader with a passion for excellence

This is not the place for personality language, anything vague, fluHy, or cliché.
