Chapter 11. Industry Selection

Industry selection is often overlooked, but it can influence how you are found and understood; your selected industry should reflect where you want to be positioned, not always where you have historically worked.

For example, if you have worked in retail operations but want to move into logistics operations, your industry selection may need to support that move.

Ask:

What industry do my target roles sit in?

Where do I want recruiters to place me?

Does my current industry selection support my next step?

Would changing it make my profile more relevant?

Do not overthink this, but do not ignore it either, your industry should support the direction of travel.
