Chapter 14. Open to Work settings

LinkedIn offers two main ways to show availability.

Recruiter-only Open to Work

Public green banner

The recruiter-only setting allows you to signal availability to recruiters using LinkedIn Recruiter, it is more discreet and is usually the better option for people who are employed, senior, or concerned about visibility.

The public green banner is more visible, it can be useful if you are openly job seeking, recently redundant, immediately available, or comfortable with your network knowing.

There is no one right answer, so choose based on:

employment status

seniority

confidence level

current employer sensitivity

urgency

personal preference

If using Open to Work, make sure your target job titles and locations are accurate.
